Some cool stuff from my week:
- Local music fans are excited about Polica, which is Channy Moon Casselle’s (of Roma di Luna) new project. The debut performance at Nick & Eddie this weekend should be pretty awesome. More info on Gimme Noise. Listen at thisispolica.com
- Ever since I ate at Chef Shack last year, I have been fascinated with local dining options on wheels. I even browsed a book at the library all about how food trucks are the hot new thing (incidentally, the book featured Chef Shack). My latest food truck find is Hola Arepa. Arepas were new to me, and I must say, it was very tasty. Recommended. Find it at the Uptown Market for the next few Sundays. Read more about Hola Arepa on Hot Dish.
- I’ve never noticed the Alphabet Forest at the State Fair before, but I’ll be selling books there today (Friday, Sept 2nd) from 2 to 7pm. Catherine Thimmesh, author of several very cool books for kids including Friends: True Stories of Extraordinary Animal Friendships, will be signing books. Read more about the literacy related activities in the Alphabet Forest in this Star Tribune article. Hope to see you at the Fair!
