Some Things I Won

I’ve been on a bit of a winning streak lately.  Well, sort of.  Are two wins technically a “streak”?  I’ll say yes.

My first win was from Bell Bloom Design via the HandmadeMN blog.  They have regular giveaways on the blog, but I rarely enter my name in the hat.  On a whim, I decided to enter the Bell Bloom Design giveaway for Customized Wall Letters because I thought they would be a great addition to my daughter’s room.  And what do you know? I won.  :)

Instead of my daughter’s name, I chose a word: hope.  I’m very pleased with how it turned out, and I’m excited to give them to her for Christmas.

hope

The second win doesn’t look like anything special, but it has a pretty big value to me.  The prize looks like a regular bus pass–no different than the one I always have in my purse.  This one, though, contains one month of FREE RIDES courtesy of Metro Transit’s 3 billionth customer contest.   Since I commute to work every day on the bus, a month of free rides is a fabulous prize.  And all I had to do to win was submit a short essay about why I ride the bus.  That’s an easy answer.  I started riding the bus several years ago when I was having car trouble, and I am still a regular bus rider now because there is no better way to be present for my family when I walk in the door from my commute than being able to spend my commute reading a book or surfing the web on my smartphone rather than driving myself.  I might have even said something about “turning my drive time into me time” despite how cheesy that sounds.  You can check out the Grand Prize winner here, and he sure to support public transit.  I depend on it! :)

Thank you to Bell Bloom Design and Metro Transit for the prizes!
